Frequently Asked Questions

When can we book?

Our season runs from May to September due to ground conditions.

Can we get married at Barton Grange?

Unfortunately we are not licensed for official ceremonies, however your wedding party can head over to Barton Grange for a serious party after a ceremony at one of the beautiful local country churches.

What is the maximum capacity of the venue?

For garden and lakeside based events, we request a maximum of 100 people. Field based events can accommodate 300 guests during the day or 200 in the evening.

Do you have car parking?

Yes, however all parking is on a grass field as we have very limited hard standing areas.

Can we use our own suppliers?

We have a great list of pre-approved and recommended suppliers. However you are also welcome to choose your own suppliers, and we can supply the relevant checklists in order to facilitate this.

Can I access the venue early?

As we are only allowed to hold a certain number of temporary events per year, we need to ensure that our bookings do not exceed our allowance, otherwise future events for that year would be compromised. It is therefore vital that you book enough days for the set-up and take-down of your event, in addition to the actual event days. If you ask for additional days within a month of your event dates, it may not be possible to grant access.

Can we have open fires?

We do allow firepits and BBQs, however bonfires on the ground are strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to ban open fires during particularly dry spells due to the risk of fires spreading. Logs can be bought from us for an additional fee.

Can we bring our own lawn games/activities?

Of course! We can also recommend some 'fun' suppliers.

What are the local accommodation options?

We are fortunate to have a fantastic choice of accommodation options in the local area; please have a look at our recommendations to get you started.

Can our guests camp at the venue?

Yes - we are very happy for you to camp with tents and motorhomes/campervans (sorry, no caravans) and there is no additional charge for this when booking. We politely request that you let us know it is your intention for people to camp, and that your guests staying overnight leave by the end date of your event.

Do you have indoor facilities if the grounds are muddy?

Unfortunately, most of our outbuildings are all very much in use with resident businesses and farming activities. We do have one small 1400 sq ft building which can be used for smaller event purposes - please contact us to discuss this further.

Do you have people to help us run the day?

The Venue Manager can be on hand throughout to assist with the smooth running of your event, although we can also recommend Wedding Planners, Front of House Managers and On-the-Day Coordinators if you would like additional help.

How far in advance can I reserve my date?

We are currently taking bookings until the end of 2025, please email us to check availability.

Can we throw confetti?

Yes, we love a confetti shot too! We ask that you choose only natural petals or water-soluble rice paper confetti.

Can we let off Chinese lanterns?

No, due to our local countryside, livestock, nearby residents and neighbours, these are not permitted.

Can our dog be part of the day?

Sorry, due to our local countryside and neighbouring livestock, dogs are not permitted.

Terms & Conditions

We want to be as flexible as possible to allow you to make the most of planning your event. However, to ensure it all goes smoothly, we do have some necessary conditions which are as follows:

  • We take a £250.00 refundable deposit to ensure the venue is left tidy, undamaged and free of rubbish. A 50% deposit is taken two months prior to your dates to secure, and the remaining is required 14 days prior. In event of cancellation, the deposit is non-refundable.

  • In the event of severe weather, Barton Grange retains the right to cancel the event on the grounds of health and safety - a full refund (aside from external costs requested i.e. toilet hire) will be given.

  • Please note where an organised event is run by a third party, public liability insurance is not included.

  • A Temporary Events Notice (TEN) will be required for the purposes of Licensable activities including selling alcohol, serving alcohol to members of a private club, providing entertainment such as music, dancing or indoor sporting events, or serving hot food or drink between 11pm and 5am. If you wish to apply for a TEN, the event organiser can obtain one from the Shropshire Council website for a fee of £21.00. A copy of your TEN will need to be provided to us.

  • Loos are compulsory with all bookings and must be booked through Barton Grange.

  • Marquees and other structures must be sourced through Barton Grange from one of our partners. The use of other suppliers for these services can only be arranged with prior consent from Barton Grange and may be subject to an additional fee.

Arrivals and Departures:

  • For a weekend booking, you will have access to the site between 9am on Friday until 5pm on Sunday. Access outside of these hours can be arranged by prior arrangement but may be subject to an additional charge. When you leave the site, all rubbish must be cleared up and removed to enable the full refund of the damages deposit. (Please let us know if you require a skip as this can be arranged at an additional charge or you can source one yourselves).

Music Policy:

  • Music from live bands must finish at 10pm (as this is more intrusive) and all amplified music must be turned off by 11pm in respect to our neighbours. We welcome silent discos or acoustic music around the campfire from 11pm.

  • Amplified music must only be played on one night of your stay and in a marquee, tent, tipi or other structure.

Site Considerations:

  • To book Barton Grange, you must be aged 18 or over and during your hire period be responsible for your guests and employees, the condition of the site and all property and equipment brought onto the site.

  • Bookings will only be taken for private or corporate parties; we are not able to offer the venue for ticketed events.

  • If glass is broken during your stay, please be thorough when removing it and let us know where it was.

  • Whilst we have made every effort to ensure the safety of the site, guests are only allowed within the boundaries of the field and grounds or the driveway. We will not be held responsible or liable for any accident, loss or damage whatsoever to persons, vehicles, equipment, tents, accessories or contents during your stay with us.

Safety:

  • For your safety, cars are to be parked in the parking area only and movements are to be kept to a minimum.

  • Parents should ensure children are properly supervised at ALL times.

  • There are areas of deep open water on site; please take care around these areas at all times and do not get too close to the edge as it may be slippery.

  • You must inform us if your party includes fireworks. These can only be arranged if you are using a professional company and cannot be lit after 11pm.

  • Finally, we reserve the right to cancel any stay or party and ask you to vacate the site should you or your guests not adhere to these conditions, and no refund will be given.
